    Abstract

The project aims at determining the quality of gasoline before filling the fuel tank of a vehicle. In response to consumer complaints, we have devised a system through which, one can easily check the purity of petrol. We apply a simple test for purity using filter paper technique combined with digital light intensity sensor. A few drops of petrol when put on a filter paper, mounted on top of a glass vessel should evaporate without leaving a patch or stain. Calibrated measures supplied by the Legal Metrology Department can be used to set a threshold to ensure the consumption of good quality petrol. A microcontroller (Arduino UNO) interfaced with a Digital Light Intensity Sensor, Liquid Crystal Display and a DC pumping motor controls the entire mechanism.
